Dolores Steinsberger Lilly gracefully shuffled off her mortal coil at home, with her daughters by her side. She was the beloved daughter of Clara and William Steinsberger, and the wife of her one true love, Jack Lilly, until his death a number of years ago.

A graduate of Shortridge High School, Dolores was active in all of her class's alumni events, chairing the 50th reunion committee, after which she initiated ongoing monthly luncheons with her classmates, bringing old acquaintances together to foster renewed friendships. She was a graduate of Butler University and was president of her Delta Delta Delta sorority, a position that earned her the nickname "the Little General" for her single-minded focus on keeping her sorority sisters in line and attending to their academic studies. After graduation she was a member of the Tri Delt House Corporation Board and became its president. She was the recipient of the Tri Delta Bertha Lugar Caldwell award for community service and sorority involvement.

Dolores was active in the PTO of her daughters' elementary school and also their Girl Scout troops. She also served on the Washington Township Planning Committee, belonged to the Indianapolis Day Nursery Auxiliary and the Propylaeum, was a charter member and President of Alpha Xi Latriean, and was a docent at the President Benjamin Harrison Home. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by her daughters, Georgianna (husband Paul), and Diana Whitehead (Bill), five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, with two more on the way (a fact that gave Dolores immense joy). She also has many friends who think the world of her.

To those numerous individuals who have been there for our mom over the years and to the administration and staff of Senior Home Companions and Intrepid Hospice, we offer our deepest appreciation and gratitude for the kindness, friendship and loving care you've extended to her.

We will all miss her terribly. But the memory of her sweet and thoughtful nature, her engaged curiosity, intelligence, optimism and unfailing humor, will sustain us.
