His family remembers him as a friendly, fun-loving person who liked to be the life of the party. Gary loved his grandchildren more than anything and spent every weekend traveling across central Indiana to attend their football, wrestling, baseball and basketball games. Gary was also very passionate about supporting charitable events that promoted diabetes awareness.

Gary was fanatical about two things in life; basketball and golf. He was a devoted individual who loved to be active and always wanted to be on the golf course or the basketball court. He was an active and dedicated member of the American Legion Post 155 in Carmel, Indiana and often volunteered to help raise money for their charity golf outings that supported the Soldiers and Sailors Children's Home of Knightstown, Indiana before its closing in 2009.
